Programme overview

The National Occupational Certificate: Occupational Health and Safety Officer programme is designed to equip learners with the knowledge, practical skills, and workplace experience required to perform the duties of an Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Officer within an organisation. Occupational Health and Safety Officers play a critical role in ensuring that workplaces comply with health and safety regulations, identifying hazards, assessing risks, and recommending appropriate control measures to prevent accidents, injuries, and occupational diseases.

This National Occupational Certificate: Occupational Health and Safety Officer qualification prepares learners to support organisations in implementing and maintaining effective health and safety systems and processes. Learners will develop the ability to conduct workplace inspections, participate in hazard and risk assessments, investigate incidents and accidents, coordinate Occupational Health and Safety administration, and compile reports that assist management in maintaining compliance with health and safety standards. Through this training, learners will contribute to creating safer workplaces, improving compliance with occupational health and safety legislation, and supporting the overall wellbeing of employees
